§ 10-6. Restrictions on keeping of dogs.

  • (a)

    No person shall own, harbor or keep a dog which:

    (1)

    Habitually pursues any vehicle upon any public street, alley or highway in the village.

    (2)

    Assaults or attacks any person.

    (3)

    Is at large within the village limits at any time of the year.

    (4)

    Habitually barks or howls to the annoyance of any person.

    (5)

    Kills, wounds or worries any domestic animal.

    (6)

    Is known by such person to be infected with rabies or to have been bitten by an animal known to have been infected with rabies.

    (b)

    In addition to the restriction specified in subsection (a) of this section, no dog owner/handler shall:

    (1)

    Allow their dog to run free on any village owned property with the exception of the designated dog walking area at the duck pond recreation area, and on the municipal beach from October 15 through March 31.

    (2)

    Leave solid fecal matter deposited by their dog on any property other than their own.

    (3)

    Deposit dog waste in storm sewers.
