§ 34-95. Discipline of members or officers.

Members or elected officers in the Fontana Volunteer Fire Department shall be disciplined pursuant to the following procedures:

(1)

Members. The fire chief may, for cause, suspend a member for up to 30 days. A member may be suspended for more than 30 days or removed as a member upon a joint recommendation by the fire chief and at least one assistant chief to the village board and a thereafter a final determination on discipline by the village board.

(2)

Assistant chief, deputy chief or captain. The fire chief may, for cause, suspend an assistant chief, deputy chief or captain for up to 30 days. An assistant chief, deputy chief or captain may be suspended for more than 30 days or removed as an officer upon a recommendation by the fire chief to the village board and thereafter a final determination on discipline by the village board.
